What are the differences between principle ethics and virtue ethics?

Principle ethics are formed from moral principles. These type of Ethics focus on the moral reasoning within people. Please ethics are also agreed upon assumptions or beliefs about ideas that are shared by members within the same profession.

Virtue ethics are the basic assumptions that professional ethics involves more than moral actions. In this matter ethics focuses more on the individual character of a person. In a professional setting this means and that the focus is on the person performing the action not the action being performed.

Which type four types of Ethics are represented in your profession?

I believe that there are various ethical representations within my professional field. Working in law enforcement means that I must always hold myself to a professional standard and follow a specific set of guidelines rules to help ensure that process.

First of all I believe virtue ethics are relevant to my professional field due to the fact that my character always has to be observed in the highest quality. This meaning that my character should always reflect the quality of my profession. I also believe that mandatory ethics goes hand-in-hand with my profession. There is a set of guidelines that are designed to establish my professional demeanor at all times.

Jami-- Aspirational ethics can be defined as a model of ethical adherence that upholds the highest level of ethical practice. This type of ethics focuses on the achievement of the highest ethical and moral standards. On the other hand, mandatory ethics focuses at a level of ethical reasoning that only complies with the minimal ethical standards.

The main difference between the two is that mandatory ethics are governed by hard and fast rules; hence, a lot of ethical reasoning is not required to make decisions based on mandatory ethical principles (Banks, 2012). Conversely, aspirational ethics involved critical thinking and the evaluation of various ethical options in order to make decisions that uphold the highest standards.

Principle Ethics and Virtue Ethics

Principle ethics is a type of ethics whose foundation is based by moral principles that agreed-upon beliefs or assumptions about ideals that are shared by the members of the profession. On the other hand, virtue ethics assumes the professional ethics include more than just moral actions (Banks, 2012). The traits and virtue are believed to affect ethical decision making.

Therefore, this form of ethics focuses on the traits of the person performing the action. Therefore, regardless of the availability of ethical principles to guide people's actions, a person's behavioral traits and the virtues that they follow will always affect the actions that they take.

Types of Ethics Represented in my Profession

The organization that I work for mainly practices principled ethics. The organization has a code of ethics that is made up of various ethical principles that are supposed to guide the actions of the employees.

During employment, each employee is given a copy of the code of conduct with the rules of acceptable behavior that they are required by the organization to follow. The organization does not assess people's virtues to determine the organization's ethical culture. Whenever an unethical act is performed by an employee, these principles are used to judge whether the action was unethical or not.
