Discussion Board Due Friday 6pm

The country is once again facing an election where we will elect a new President.There are so many issues that need to be discussed and addressed.One of those issues that continue to erupt is Immigration.

Having grown up and lived in Arizona for 55 years, (yes I am old) this has always been a serious issue for the state. Recently an illegal immigrant made his way back to the United States after being deported over five times.He has a long record of offenses committed in the U.S. and yet he is still able to get back to California, specifically San Francisco. There are several cities across this county that have called themselves sanctuary cities.This allows an illegal to come and live there without any consequences.

All of us need to take a position on Immigration.It affects us all in one way or another.You are at a social gathering where several people have come to the United States and brought their children who were very young.They are now wanting to have the same freedoms as we do without having to abide by the law. The subject arises at this social gathering as to what should be done. How do you begin this conversation without causing a conflict that might erupt into a huge argument? Remember place and timing are vital.

You are to write a minimum of 150 words in your Discussion Board.You are to write in the APA format 6th edition and support your work by citing sources one of which should be the textbook.

Article: Article must be related to Power and Conflict

You will be responsible for finding these articles for discussion and write a summary of the article to be handed in with the article. You will be graded on your participation as well as turning in the article. Each article has a theme so look at the reading schedule to see what the article must be about. Minimum 2 pages. Also include abstract, citations, refernces, and include the actual article. Must be in APA 6th edition.

Discussion Board

Do you know of any local crimes that fit the celebrated cases category of the criminal justice wedding cake? Why did these cases receive such attention?Are they similar to or different from cases that receive extensive coverage in the media? (FYI: I live in Fairburn, Georgia)

All discussion boards must have a minimum of 150 words.It must follow the APA format with citations one of which must be your text.

Movie Review

All students are required to watch the following movies that depict various aspects of the court system and write a review of each movie. These movies are available through Netflix and should also be available through your local library, as they are classic films.

Movie Review Four: Gideon's Trumpet (1980)

Movie reviews consist of the following parts:

• Introduction, with title, leading actors, director, and release date

• Summary of the story

• Analysis of story elements - like rising action, climax

• Creative elements, use of color, camera techniques, mood and tone

• Your opinion of the movie. You need to go further than just saying that it was "good" or "bad." Think about the movie in terms of what you are learning in class and how it does or does not help you understand the concepts we are discussing.

• The reviews need to be analytic, as opposed to simply descriptive; by "analytic," I mean that the paper should seek to explain or understand something, and not just to describe it. You should watch the movies with a view toward what they can teach you about the course material. Must include title page, abstract, and reference and must be written in the correct APA format 6th ed.
