From the first e-Activity, examine the ACA Code of Ethics and choose two (2) of the codes that you believe both the state and federal prison system should adhere to the most stringently. Determine whether or not adherence to the ACA Code of Ethics should be based on the prison security type (i.e., maximum, medium, or minimum). Provide a rationale for your response.

1 Members shall respect and protect the civil and legal rights of all individuals.

Inmates are still people and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. They still have civil and legal rights and it is part of the correctional facility's job to ensure all individuals, inmates and staff, are treated safely and within the law.

1 Members shall treat every professional situation with concern for the welfare of the individuals involved and with no intent to personal gain.

Correctional facilities should strive for professionalism in all situations and ensure that their staff acts professional. Prisons can be dangerous and inmates can act out and be disrespectful on a regular basis. This can make the environment stressful and cause staff to react in unprofessional ways. Regardless of the situation, all staff should act professional and ensure the welfare of all individuals. This includes not acting on behalf of themselves for personal gain.

The adherence to the ACA Code of Ethics should be for all prison types, not just based on the prison security type. Any type of correctional facility can be at risk for failing to uphold the ACA Code of Ethics whether it is a minimum or maximum security facility. Any facility can be dangerous and prone to ethical violations, therefore all staff should uphold these ethics to ensure the best possible outcome for safety, honestly, respect, and dignity for all staff and inmates.

From the second e-Activity, evaluate the effectiveness of the special restrictions imposed on serious terrorist in relation to the elimination of the radicalization of other prisoners housed in supermax facilities. Provide a rationale for your response.

Some of the special restrictions put on serious terrorists and violent criminals are closely monitored mail, only allowed a few visits, and the inmates are kept in solitary confinements. However, FBI director Robert S. Mueller III told the House Judiciary Committee that he has concerns about terrorists being housed in prisons with US citizens.

Some of his concerns are the potential to finance terrorists, radicalizing others to violent extremism, and the potential for individuals undertaking attacks in the United States. Furthermore, there are inmates in our prison system that are still able to manage the operation of their gang from inside prison walls. These are all very real concerns when it comes to housing terrorists in US prisons.

I do not believe that the special restrictions imposed on terrorists will always be able to work when it comes to eliminating the radicalization of other prisoners in supermax facilities. Inmates have proven time and again that they can find ways around the system, such as, escaping, turning guards to their favor, rioting, and overtaking a prison to name a few. Where there is a will there is a way, so I personally believe terrorists should be kept separate from the US prison populations.

•Identify the key factors that make policing and adjudicating transnational crime so difficult. Suggest one (1) strategy that a policing organization could utilize to address at least one (1) of these factors. Provide a rationale for your response.

It is very difficult to police and adjudicate transnational crimes because it involves more than one country. If someone smuggles drugs from Cuba to the United States it involves the drug trafficking from Cuba but also the crime of possessing it in the U.S. So now the question is which country has jurisdiction of the crime.

Cuban laws could not be as harsh as the United States. The individual could get a break or walk free. I believe if everyone came to an agreement that the crime should be prosecuted where it ended. They can do the leg work from there. I feel there is too much involved with sending the individual back to where the crime started and prosecuting them there. That not only cost money but also time. They would have to be escorted everywhere and watched until they are in the custody of someone else.

•From the e-Activity, imagine you are the police chief being questioned in the video. Determine the degree to which the traffic stops initiated would constitute police corruption. Give an example of a policy that you would implement as chief in order to combat corruption. Provide support for your rationale.

After watching the video I agree with the police chief that as long as it is a legal traffic stop then they can say what they would like. You can persuade individuals to search their vehicles.

Everything starts with a legal traffic stop. If he is just pulling over cars because he thinks they are suspicious or possibly have drug money then he should be investigated. There is a fine line between what is legal and digging for something because you want inside the vehicle. I think cameras are the best idea for this. We just started getting body cameras last year at my department.

Complaints went down and if one came in our Chief can look into it further to see if it is valid. This applies to individuals that are being pulled over for no reason. Once the lights are activated the camera is as well. If this occurred I again agree with the chief that he is investigating it further with that officer.

He can help fix the problem from occurring in the future and not having the officer look terrible in court or give their department a bad name as a whole.
