The introduction contains your thesis (the main statement of argument for the essay; what specifically and precisely is your point of view regarding the topic of the essay) and sets up the rest of the essay.
The introduction should be 5-7 sentences, give or take.
The thesis should establish your primary argument about the play's meaning that you will analyze in the remainder of the paper. What approaches will you take to the play you've chosen and how do they help us to understand its meaning/theme.
How does the adaptation of the play help to emphasize its themes (addressing specific literary elements such as performance, visual design, characterization, etc.) Remember you are comparing the PLAY on paper to its PERFORMANCE on film/video.
Every paper must have a clear point of view/statement of analysis that begins and guides the rest of the essay.
In short, then, the material posted here should include the INTRODUCTION which includes two components: a couple of lines of "set-up" introducing us to the topic and specific play under analysis. THEN a specific thesis (or statement of argument in 1-3 lines that presents explicitly the main point of view of the paper.
A thesis is NOT a statement of fact, a question or a plan for the essay (I will do this, then that, etc.); it is a statement of what your primary analytical point is that will guide the remainder of the essay.
The "points-to-make" list should include at least THREE statements, expressed in full sentences that indicate the main ideas you need to make in the rest of the essay in order to support the thesis. What does the paper have to develop and analyze in order to support fully the thesis and provide a detailed analysis of the play and chosen elements?
You can use the same thesis you have used before. Two- Three paragraph should be good.
