Our Discussion for this week will focus on prostitution and pornography. Please respond to the following questions/statements:
- Do you think pornography is harmful to American society? Do you think that pornography should be restricted in the United States? Explain your answers.
- With regard to the Thinking Critically About Social Problems section on page 75 of the textbook, do you think prostitution should be legalized? Explain your viewpoint.
Depressants and Stimulants
The U.S. has attempted many legislative actions, or bans, to try to deal with drug use and abuse. The ban most often cited with drugs is Prohibition. What was the driving force behind prohibition? Why did prohibition not work? Would it work today? Why or why not?
