Defeating Aging Video Clip Response- Guiding Questions

Use the following guiding questions and write a one page, about  300 to 400 word, essay to respond to Dr. deGrey's ideas.  Cite at least two sources, one of which may be your textbook.

• Do you agree or disagree with Dr. deGrey's theory that we should develop therapies that would provide moderate levels of "maintenance" to our bodies to keep them intact and functioning thereby letting people "avoid death if they want to?" Why or why not?
• Describe some potential benefits and/or problems of Dr. deGrey's theory as it applies to individuals, families, cities, states, the nation and/or globally.
• What would you do if you could choose to live to 150 years and maintain an active lifestyle?
• Can you think of situations in which living an active life for more than 150 years would be in conflict with medical institutions or government programs?
• What are some of the changes in thinking towards "older people" that would need to take place if the life expectancy in the United States were to increase by 50 years or more?
• If Dr. deGrey's theory became reality, what role do you see an active population over 100 years-of-age playing in society?
