Performance Plans and Performance Reviews
Assume for a moment the three part assertion that (a) managers hate writing and conducting employee reviews; (b) employees hate writing self-assessments and being reviewed; (c) there is no empirical data in HR/Management research that shows that performance plans/reviews improve performance.
(1) Reflect for a moment on why (briefly) the performance review process is so pervasive in the discipline of HR.
(2) Consider that you will have to conduct performance reviews on your employees. Let's assume that it is a must. What will you do to improve the chances that the reviews really make a difference in your organization. Read one other student's response.
