Determinations Presentation
Many times as a chief officer you are expected to provide presentations to the governing body to identify current trends or deficiencies within your agency and the community.
This assignment is a sample of what you would be expected to present. Provide justification to support a change within your organization or community.
The assignment will bring together all the previous projects in this course based on the building you identified and started inspecting in Unit II.
Design a PowerPoint presentation geared as though you are presenting to your city council on several items including fire tragedy history, your facility inspection, and preplan (done in previous units).
Your presentation should highlight points of overcrowding, limited visibility, human tendencies, age, and other common factors that affect fire incidence rates such as socioeconomic demographics, risks, and tendencies.
Furthermore, outline theories that have been identified as to how and why human behavior in fire impacts the fire prevention or life safety code.
Also, include specific information about fire prevention efforts, failures of code enforcement, evacuation concerns, and herding as documented in the Station Nightclub fire and, more recently, the Ghost Ship fire.
Finalize your presentation with your recommendations. Your recommendations should include answers to questions, such as the following. Is there a need for fire code adoption? Is there a need for a new ordinance?
Is additional fire prevention funding needed? Are there any other needs? Your presentation should be approximately between 18 to 20 slides and must include a title and reference slide
(title and reference slides do not count toward the total slide requirement listed above).

Provide an introduction. Slides
Cover topics such as overcrowding, limited visibility, age, human tendencies, and other common factors that affect fire incidence rates as mentioned above. Slides
Cover theories as to how and why human behavior in fire impacts the fire prevention or life safety code. Slides
Cover fire prevention efforts, failures of code enforcement, etc. Slides 18-19: Provide a conclusion (recommendations).

As part of the presentation, you are required to use the notes section (speaker notes) for the content slides to reinforce your presentation.
Be sure your presentation includes visuals, such as images and graphics, to supplement your message. You should reference at least two outside sources that supported your findings in the previous assignments or any other sources.
The images and graphics along with your supporting references and in-text citations in your presentation must follow APA style.
