Describing and Measuring Adaption-Innovation (KAI), please answer the following:

1. Describe practical interpretations of adaptive efficiency and innovative efficiency. When is adaptive efficiency valuable? When is innovative efficiency an advantage?

2. With respect to rule/group conformity, how might the more adaptive be viewed by their more innovative peers (and vice versa)? How can these views create conflict within an organization? How might these particular style differences be used to an advantage?

3. Do highly innovative individuals always break the rules? Why or why not? Likewise, do highly adaptive individuals always follow the rules? Again, explain your answer.

4. If you were a manager with the opportunity to “design” your own team, and you knew the levels and styles of all the individuals you might include on that team, how would you go about choosing your team members?

5. Assume you are a manager, faced with three teams; all team members (on all three teams) have similar levels, motives, and available opportunities. Team A is comprised of highly adaptive individuals, Team B is comprised of highly innovative individuals, and Team C is comprised of individuals with a wide range of diverse cognitive styles.

a. Which team would you expect to be easiest to manage? Explain your answer.

b. Which team would you expect to be most difficult to manage? Again, explain your answer.
