Data Visualization Homework Assignment Using the Rig Count Data spreadsheet (see homework page for this module), do the following: 1. Create a pivot table and answer the following questions: a. In the first week of 2014, how many horizontal oil rigs were in operation in the Permian Basin? b. In the first week of 2014, how many horizontal oil rigs were in operation in the Permian Basin in Texas? c. Compare the ratio of vertical to horizontal drilling trajectory in New Mexico and Texas. In the first week of 2014, which state had a higher ratio of vertical drilling rigs? d. Explore. Try different combinations of fields in rows, columns and filters. What interesting observations can you make? 2. Create a pivot chart from the Rig Count Data for the first week of 2014. Do the following: a. Create a vertical bar chart that compares the drilling trajectories of oil rigs in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. b. Create a pie chart that indicates the oil rig count by geological location (basin). Exclude the “other” category from your chart. c. Experiment with other types of charts and combinations of fields.
