Creative expressions, from art to music to being a change agent at work, can help to solve some miscommunications. These become a way to put yourself into "someone else's shoes." However, before being able to expand your view through this perspective, it is useful to examine instances of misunderstanding and discover how communication can break down.

1. Explaining your perspective on any subject will require that others are able to see things from your point of view. Have you ever had a miscommunication with someone at work, in your community, or among your friends and family? What led to the miscommunication? How was it solved?

2. What are some ways that you communicate your opinions effectively? How can you help someone from a different perspective to understand your experience?
