• Create two or three slides and accompanying speaker's notes describing in general the mass media industry's role in shaping public opinion and creating or destroying stereotypes.
• Research articles and images related to your chosen topic from different time periods.
• Create seven or eight slides depicting media images and text from the oldest sources you can locate to the most current. Specifically look for media content that portrays positive or negative stereotypes of your chosen topic. In the accompanying speaker's notes, include the year that each image or article was published and in which medium it was presented. Also explain what aspects of the images or text are stereotyped.
Create one or two final slides and accompanying speaker's notes to summarize how and why the stereotypes changed over time, the effects that the media images and text had on the real people involved in the field or movement, and whether the media coverage had any effect on public opinion or policy.
