COUNTRY PROJECT: BUSINESS AND COUNTRY VARIABLE ANALYSIS

You will write your first paper in three parts as a narrative (not outline) in which you discuss your business and the country you would like it to enter. Do not select a real company (such as Walmart), and be sure to do some preliminary research on various countries and businesses before you make your decision. Your paper should be six to twelve pages, but you will not be penalized if your paper is a few pages longer. You will be penalized 11% if shorter than 6 pages. You must use the headings below for your headings and if not you will penalized 5pts.

Part 1 Introduction

A clear statement of purpose is provided; the introduction includes a comprehensive summary of what will be explored and discussed.

Part 2 Organizational structure - must use as a heading in paper

Briefly describe your company, including a clear description of the company, the type of business, operational strategy, and organizational structure and any other relevant information.

Part 3 Country variables - must use as a heading in paper.

This is the most important part of your first paper. In it, you will provide your analysis of the following country variables in your chosen country. You must use the variables listed below as headings in the paper. The advantages and disadvantage analysis is the most important part of the part 3.  In addition, any facts presented in the paper must be properly footnoted in the body of paper and also you must show the relevance of to your business of the facts stated.

Physical and demographic - Must discuss three specific physical and demographic issues and then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the 3 issues and the effects they each might have on the success of the business. The advantages and disadvantages discussion must be in same area of discussion of each separate issue. Must provide specific examples to support any assertions and conclusions. Research is the key. General comments will not work.

Cultural environment -Must discuss three specific cultural issues and then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the 3 issues and the effects they each might have on the success of the business. The advantages and disadvantages discussion must be in same area of discussion of each separate issue. Must provide specific examples to support any assertions and conclusions. Research is the key. General comments will not work.

The advantages and disadvantages discussion must be in same area of discussion of each separate issue.  Must provide specific examples to support any assertions and conclusions. Research is the key. Part 3 above is the most important part of your paper  is the analysis of the advantages/disadvantages of how each country variable's issues might affect the success of your business.

Be specific about how each country variable relates to your business, and discuss the relevance of all the information in your paper to the startup of your business in the country you chose. Do not include any information in the paper unless you include an explanation of its relevance to your business. For example, proving me with the country's history without indicating its relevance to your business is merely providing filler for the paper.

  • Do not include a conclusion in this paper.
  • To help in the grading process, you must use the country variables as headings.
  • Use at least eight sources (other than the the text) to support your discussion and analysis.
  • Remember that, although the minimum length of an acceptable paper is 6 pages, past experience indicates that one cannot do an adequate job of covering all of the required discussion in so few pages.
  • Read and follow the grading rubric below for paper 1, below, to ensure that you meet all criteria
  • Be typed and double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font, with margins no wider than one inch
  • Be paginated, and have no headers or footers other than page numbers
  • Be prepared in a word processing program (you may submit assignments only in Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format; you may not submit them in PDF or DOCM format)
  • Contain a cover page with your name, the course name and number, and the title of your project
  • Do not include pictures, graphs, or lists in the body of the paper; if you need these to support your facts, place them at the end of your paper as an addendum, referenced in the body of your paper; they will not count toward the length of your paper
  • Be written in narrative form, not outline (no bullets at all)
