Consider a client who is diagnosed with one of the following:

• Allergies
• Anxiety
• Arthritis
• Asthma
• Chronic fatigue syndrome
• Chronic gastrointestinal disturbance

o Ulcers
o Crohn's disease
o Irritable bowel syndrome
o Celiac disease

• Depression
• Diabetes
• Fibromyalgia
• Hypertension
• Migraine headaches
• Pain, non-chronic
• Side effects of radiation and/or chemotherapy
• Upper respiratory tract infections

Using the list below, determine at least two types of practice methods from this week's reading that will best suit the client in coping with the diagnosis. Provide a thorough discussion that explains why the two chosen options are the best for the particular diagnosis. Compare and contrast the two treatment options (how they are different, and how they are the same). Discuss the type of treatments the patient would receive from a practitioner of one of them.

• Homeopathy
• Naturopathy
• Western herbalism
• Chiropractic medicine
• Massage therapy
• Reflexology
• History and Scope of Practice

This week's reading covers several common CAM systems: naturopathy, Western herbalism, Chiropractic, massage therapy, and reflexology. There have been many historical occurrences that have shaped the individual professions, society's perception of the professions, licensure or certification of practitioners, and the way in which the providers are allowed to practice. Select one of the systems addressed in this week's reading. Examine and discuss the historical events that have resulted in profound changes and/or influences to that system.

Support your position with at least one scholarly or peer-reviewed source, in addition to the textbook and this week's required/recommended readings. You may use professional Internet sources; however, these sources will not count toward the research requirement. Respond to a minimum of two classmates, addressing their posts in a substantive manner.
