Computer Labs Incorporated is a company that specializes in setting up computer labs for clients in large and small businesses as well as schools. You work with a team of people to coordinate all the many projects that your company completes for its clients. One of the main missions of your company is to deliver a quality product with a positive attitude in a timely manner. The mission is critical to the business. You are training a co-worker to become a project leader and ask her to consider the project below and then answer the following questions. Determine all that is needed for project: hardware, software, and other materials (4 days). Then obtain all necessary materials (5 days). After the materials have been obtained, install the hardware (6 days), and run the wiring for the network (4 days). After the hardware has been installed and the wiring for the network has been run, arrange workstations (2 days). Next, load necessary software onto workstations (2 days). After software is loaded, test workstations to make sure they are working properly (1 day). After testing, bring in client for final inspection (1 day). Create a Gantt chart that shows the WBS. Create a PERT/CPM chart. What is the critical path? What is the total time in days that it will take to complete the project? The purpose of this assessment is to show your understanding of how to create and work with the following: work breakdown structure, identify task patterns, create a Gantt chart, create a PERT/CPM chart, and calculate a critical path. This assessment will help you better understand the process of project planning and project scheduling. It is not sufficient to state your opinions alone; you must be able to backup your responses by applying concepts and topics from the text with the information that supports your findings.
