Introduction

Within this essay, the Casper (1978) ‘‘ways of knowing'' theory will be is utilise to critically analyse three research papers found from the formulation of a PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) question. The PICO question will aid with investigating applied health intervention using evidence-based approach through research, to be able to critically evaluate the method used within the research to help determine a good outcome and to also make recommendation that can help to improve future practice.

The Clinical Practice Teacher (CPT) received a school health concern referral from school stating that mother has concerns with her child's Nocturnal Enuresis. For the purpose of this essay the young person will be referred to as D to maintain confidentiality as stated by the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct (NMC, 2015)

It was then arrange to accompany CPT to school to speak with mum to discuss her concerns. The school nurse's role and intervention was discussed with mother. It is imperative that school nurses' work in partnership with the parents and school to get accurate information and a good working relationship in the best interest of the child and to establish a good outcome (Coles and Porter, 2009).

To conclude, the Casper's (1978) ways of knowing theory was utilised within the essay to critically appraise 3 research papers from the formulation of a PICO research question relating to Nocturnal Enuresis in school age children. In examining the lack of evidence found recommendations were made for more U.K research to be done surrounding children's experience and management of living with nocturnal enuresis to be able to give their views, which will help school nurse to provide support base on evidence that will also inform future practice. In essence most researchers would agree that research is about using the best evidence found to practice effectively (Funnell et al, 2008) Further research shows that the problem that was research N.E the cause was not fully understood and more research is needed to support children based on evidence (ERIC, 2012)
