Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. Why did the Constitution succeed where the Articles of Confederation failed?

The Anti-Federalists expressed many fears in their writings. Two of the most important fears involved taxation and the centralization of government. With respect to taxation, they feared that the central government would expand its taxing power slowly and end up restricting the taxing freedoms of state and local governments. The second major fear was that the capital city would cause the central government to lose touch with its constituency. Explain why you agree or disagree.

The writing of the Constitution can be seen as the first real working of group interest or pluralism in the United States. What kinds of bargains or compromises were struck in the writing of this document? How were the various interests of the 13 colonies protected by the provisions of Congress? Remember to include the two houses of Congress and the 3/5 compromises.
