Communication Write Business Trip Justification

As you know from the course guidelines, "the content and context of your writing assignments must be directly related to topics and workplace situations common to your chosen profession." In explaining a situation that merits a business trip and in arguing for the necessity of an on-the-spot evaluation, focus on a realistic, albeit hypothetical example. Let's say I had to write such a request for funding to travel to Calgary to learn about some new software. Rather than interacting with the software expert over Skype, or another means of communication, I feel the need to meet with them (perhaps a consultant/trainer) directly in order evaluate the practical application of the product and to allow the expert to provide me with some supervised hands-on training. In persuading my boss of the necessity of covering my trip expenses, I might point to the short time-frame I'm facing within which I'm required to become adequately competent. Another reason I might claim the trip is justifiable is because I'll soon be responsible for providing similar training for my colleagues. A further reason may be that it's important for me to meet with and develop a good relationship with the trainer as I may regularly need to draw upon their expertise in the future.
