Choose both a past (at least 10 years old) and present event (within the last 3 years) {2 events} experienced by an ethnic, racial, or minority group and explore the impact of prejudice and discrimination on those events (the two events do not have to be about the same group.  The group you choose may be the LBGT community, the elderly, and those with disabilities.  The following are examples of past events: The Trail of Tears, Bloody Sunday {Alabama and Northern Ireland}, and Kristallnacht.  Your paper should be 4 to 6 pages, error free, and use APA style.

Within your paper include:

• Real-world examples of the topics (both topics) based on your research (for example, a personal commentary of the events from an individual's account).
• Summarize the events.
• Describe similarities and differences in the interaction/communication styles of both of the groups you chose.
• Discuss the impact of misperception, using specific examples of common misperceptions of the era.
• Compare and contrast the past and present events, explaining in detail the similarities and differences.
• Develop a plan that would have prevented these events from the perspective of an authority figure such as a politician, chief of police or other public official.
• Explain why you chose these topics for your paper.
• You are required to use at least three outside sources.

All assignments are required to use APA style, be error-free (grammar and spelling count), have one-inch margins, and include a cover page and reference page.   At least two outside sources are required.  Wikipedia is not an acceptable reference and should not be cited. Additionally, an introduction, body, and conclusion are also required.
