Chapter 6

# 4. It makes sense for a transnational organization to have more than one headquarter. This is because such an organization conducts business in different countries and the need for close coordination. The main advantage of many headquarters is close coordination especially when the geographical locations of the company's operations are very far. The drawback of many headquarter is the complexity of coordinating the company's activities (Daft 2015).

# 7. Among the elements that contribute to greater complexity for the international organization include language barrier, different cultures, and resource allocation. Organizations can address this complexity through close coordination and transfer of knowledge and innovation. These complexities affect even such companies as Spotify since different people have different cultures, hence different choice of music.

# 8. For a culture characterized by high power distance and low tolerance for uncertainty, companies that try to implement shared power and authority and lack formal guidelines would probably fail. This is because such a company may lack skilled workforce, face language barrier, and lack the support infrastructure in certain parts of the country.

# 9. It is possible for a company to achieve global efficiency and integration goals, while at the same time transferring knowledge and innovation. All that such a company would require is well-defined goals and support divisions.

Chapter 8

# 1. Technology can enable top manager to do business with little face-to-face communication. For instance, teleconferencing enables managers to address staffs in different location all at once.

# 7. Knowledge management entails getting the right intelligence, to the right people, at the right time. It is of great importance for organizations that want to learn and change since they are can understand the environment and change accordingly.

# 9. Social media platforms such as blogs allow employees to express their views and share ideas freely. Equally, such employees are able to receive feedback immediately, hence developing a strong bond between the company and its customer.

# 10. The use of IT leads to greater decentralization in the quest to improve coordination and make various departments to be independent (Daft 2015). In some organizations, it leads to centralization since information can be shared using a single platform.
