Introduction

A major international law firm with more than 500 practicing attorneys and a support staff of over 2,000 employees has been in business for 75 years. It handles both corporate matters and criminal law. The attorneys are often travelling and need case information without carrying big volumes of documents around. Reliability and accuracy are vital to its success. The firm wanted to leverage smart mobile device technology for improving operational efficiency and ensure security of information send over these devices. There is need to remotely push documents, control rogue apps, wipe, lock & GPS tracking on devices if they are lost.

Challenge

The CIO wanted to advance in technology and provide mobile tablets or iPads to its lawyers. The top concern was mobile security and over-the-air information distribution to smart mobile devices:

Remote Wipe and Remote Lock: Manage locking the device remotely & Initiating a remote wipe to factory defaults or non-operational status.

GPS Location Tracking: Track time and location coordinates of mobile devices.

Broadcast Text/SMS/Push message or Paging to internal mobile devices

Notifications & Reporting: Real Time Notifications to Network Administrators for exceptions.

Implementation

Remote over-the-air (OTA) enrollment of mobile devices with SSAE 16 Type II compliant hosting site with multiple levels of security & reliability. The MDM Gateway software was installed behind corporate firewall for Active Directory & Active Sync integration.
