CASE STUDY: Improving Business Performance Through Information System

In the modern world of business, information and technology are the resources that are increasingly important as business organisations seek to improve their performance, profitability and productivity. Applying information and technology can offer new ways to do business, increase efficiency of business processes, reduce costs, and provide performance measures used to control improvement. With this, small to large scale business organisations are creating, designing and implementing Information System to support business processes and integrate technology to add value to business. Your task requires to write a report to recommend one (1) Information System that you would like to implement in a certain organisation that you think would improve their business performance. The report should contain the following:

1. Introduction
A short background of the Information System, its advantages and disadvantages
Explain why you choose to recommend this Information System (be specific as there are many types of Information System available in the market today) to a certain organisation.
Explain how the chosen Information System can improve business processes and performance

2. Discussion Section. Based on the recommended Information System, identify and explain the following:
Identify and explain the functionalities of the chosen Information System. The key functions of its IT hardware and software and its application to business.
Is the system requires hardware to implement it? If yes, discuss what are the key functions of its IT hardware (hardware requirements) and software (be specific). If no, explain why?

3. Include report summary:
Discuss the role of the chosen Information System in developing the economy of Oman (200 words)
Discuss the possible effect of this Information System to the Omani society. (300 words)
Conclusion indicating that the report objectives have been met (200 words)
