Case Memo to Thomas Green

Read the case Thomas Green: Power, Office Politics and a Career in Crisis:

a. What are the work styles, personalities, and expectations of Thomas Green and Frank Davis? To what extent are they aligned or misaligned?

 b. What is your analysis of Thomas Green's actions and job performance in his first five months? What mistakes has he made?

 c. Imagine you are Thomas Green. What would you do next?

d. Write your Individual Case Memo to Thomas Green. Be sure to integrate your answers to the above questions and incorporate course concepts, particularly from the reading "Power Dynamics in Organizations."

Case Memo: For the Thomas Green case, you will write up a brief memo with analysis and recommendations for the protagonist. Please follow these general guidelines:

a. Focus on the case questions (Above questions a, b, c). Addressing other questions or issues will not be evaluated positively.

 b. Do not summarize the case or provide extraneous details. These are a waste of precious space. Instead, provide only those details directly relevant to the points you are trying to make.

c. Integrate information from the required reading that is paired with the case.

d. Write from your perspective as a mentor from outside the protagonist's organization (but, of course, you are privy to all the details of the case). Feel free to draw on your professional experience as much as the reading "Power Dynamics in Organizations."

e. Make it easily read and digested. Feel free to use bullet points, bold text, etc. to focus the reader's attention. The Exemplary Memo (for a different case) will be useful to consult. Please follow these formatting and  guidelines: Your memos should be 1-2 single-spaced pages, formatted as Times New Roman, 12-point font with one-inch margins on all sides.
