Career Strategic Plan

This needs to be over someone who is a store manager or district manager, someone who is going into the district management position.

Given today's economic environment, it is highly likely that something unexpected will take place with respect to your career and that you will need to be prepared to take alternative actions. Many lives are interrupted by changes in family, health, job, or other life situations that are not anticipated. Part of what we can do is become more agile and adaptable in the face of these changes. This assignment is designed to help you with this process. A career strategic plan should not be a static document-it well may be one of those emergent strategic plans.

This is an application of organizational strategic planning concepts to your life. This plan should be sufficiently detailed so as to serve as an actual guide for you. This will include at the minimum, 1) a statement of your personal mission/vision and what your competitive advantage or distinctive competence is, 2) a SWOT analysis of your personal and work-related skills, 3) identification of career options (what are alternative paths you might choose or what major forks in the road could change your path?) and 4) an implementing plan. Your implementing plan should include a section on resources required.

This is a significant number of points, so ample time should be devoted to it. This is an opportunity to both demonstrate knowledge of course concepts and to also do some creative thinking about your life/work planning. The scoring Matrix is on the following page. Format must be APA or MLA.
