Can you give me a feedback about this and tell me about your thoughts. This is a statement from my classmate and I need to give a comment about this.

Maslow's Hierarchy of needs has been Influential to say the lest. In fact the word "Influential" has been the most repeated word I've seen in all the information I looked up on it. His theory provides a useful summery of human needs , which can be used in product design, product positioning, pricing(e.g. need for power and status), and retail outlet's design's. So close to black Friday I thought using retail examples would be appropriate. It's a motivational theory comprising of a five tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels in a pyramid. As several of my peers have already stated the major problem with this theory is that it cannot be tested empirically, there is no way to measure precisely how satisfied one level of need must be before the next higher need becomes operative. The model in my opinion is also to simplistic. The model is too culture bound : it lacks validity across different cultures and the assumptions of the hierarchy may be more restricted to western cultures. There is to much vagueness and generalizations. Think about it with all the shows on T.V about remote African tribes and people living in the bush in Australia what if anything at all do there motivations line up with ours in America. It would be safe say everyone wants Friendship, family or sexual intimacy but that's not universally always true.

Piaget's theories focused on child development in stages. These stages help to explain a Childs thought processes and how they see the world. This allows teachers and parents to have greater understanding of a Childs developmental level. In his theories he often underestimated the ability of the child's intellect. Also most of the experiments were quite hard to understand and grasp. His sample sizes were small and he failed to develop a theory for after adolescence. The fact that it only applies to children is a major weakness. What about disabled students or late bloomers? his research methods were limited to say the least.
