CAH Systems and the Scientific Method

At a recent Natural Therapies Conference the key note speaker announces that she has found a cure for HIV/AIDS. Her treatment protocol for this cure is a very rigorous, time-intensive therapy, which has thwarted many HIV positive patients away from seeking this curative protocol. She reports no scientific evidence in support of her claim but has one patient sitting beside her who was "cured" by her treatment protocol. With your knowledge of treatment protocols and understanding of the scientific method, what are some of the issues presented in this scenario? Should the scientific method be applied to all CAH therapies? Why or why not? Are there therapies you have studied thus far that can stand the test of scrutiny of the scientific method? Take for example, the double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Are there some therapies that are not testable under the above method of study?
