Context:

Tertiary students are expected to demonstrate research skills and the ability to critically analyse the value of research to an essay question. Essay writing is a method of communication used at tertiary level of study.

Instructions:

In this assessment you must write a 1500-word essay on a topic relating to effective communication in business. The essay must refer to 4 peer-reviewed journals. Choose one topic from the following:

Topic 1 - Critically analyse the impact of technology on communication skills in the workplace.

Topic 2 - Critically analyse the importance of communication skills in the workplace.

Topic 3 - Communication is an art not a skill. Critically analyse the statement.

Building on the skill of analysing text in assessment 1, you are expected to demonstrate:

• a comprehensive understanding of the subject,
• familiarity with prescribed texts and readings,
• critical analysis and research skills,
• ability to develop coherent arguments ,
• effective writing skills (including correct essay format), and
• effective referencing skills (APA style).
