Business Class Assignment

There are multiple benefits to fundraising in support of a nonprofit organization (NPO). Some of the advantages include tax deductions for donors and helping nonprofit organizations create programs and host activities for their cause. In addition, charitable giving provides a sense of community and fulfills the interests to help others in need.

For this assignment, you will need to identify an NPO that you want to support or have supported in the past. Utilize your resources to find an NPO of interest. Some examples of an NPO may include a local youth sports team, a dance troupe, a church mission or ministry, or homeless shelter. Once the NPO has been identified, you will also need to identify a list of potential donors.

Then, complete a letter that you will send out to the potential donors you have identified. The letter to the donors you have identified must include the following, at a minimum:

1. The name of organization
2. A brief background about the organization or cause
3. A stated purpose for the fundraiser
4. Date(s) of the campaign
5. Fundraising goals

In addition to your letter, complete a 250-500 word reflection that identifies the number of donors and the characteristics of the donors you selected. Address the insight gained from this experience and whether you commit to sending the letter out to the donors you identified.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
