Bill needed important documents couriered from Palmerston North to Albany. The documents had to arrive in Albany on Thursday, 15 Match, in order to be signed. Bill stood to lose $1,000,000 if the documents were not signed on 15 March. Speedy Couriers undertook to deliver the documents. Bill told them that the documents were 'very important', and Speedy's clerk assured him that they took all of their jobs seriously. The documents arrived late in Albany even though Bill had them delivered to Speedy's offices in good time. Bill is suing Speedy Couriers for $1,000,000.
