This is an in-depth look at an apparent connection between political conservatism and religion. The authors explore the influence of this connection on present-day politics. I intend to use this article to explain the role that organized religion plays in the politics of today and to argue that there should be a separation of church and state. Religion is intertwined with culture, economics, politics, and modern social relationship on every level, whether you attend church habitually, or whether you are a casual bystander, you simply cannot escape religion. Culturally, religion affects at different levels and many religions have different levels of faith followers. Culture and religion share a symbiotic relationship that can influence clothes, hair, attitudes, tradition, child, rearing, how we pray, when we pray, how often we pray, and what we wear when we pray. In the Islamic faith, the custom of a woman covering herself in a hijab, modest clothing which covers from Shari law, and not from the Qur'an. The religious habit worn by many Catholic nuns is also attire which does not reveal the nun's body and covers her hair, neck and ears.

This source includes information about the influences of Christian-based religions on presidential elections and candidates. It explores American views on the presence of religion in politics, especially the part religion plays in the most prestigious office of President of the United States of America. The writers provide many instances of how religion has been a part of major politics for many years. I can use this source to highlight both sides of the argument regarding religion and politics using the Rogerian argument method.

Journal of Church and State, The authors provide a detailed explanation of the origin and long-term effects of The Religious Liberty Protection Act (RLPA). They explain how the RLPA was founded and its role in Congress. This information will be helpful in expressing how religious issues affect everyday politics. The information will assist in my argument that there should be less religious involvement in today's politics.

The author acknowledges the argument that religious belief is not compatible with liberal politics. Included is a review of the Anti-Establishment Clause (Establishment Clause, Religious Clause) in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It supports my position that politics should not be heavily influenced by organized religion. Also discussed is a subject called "basic liberties," which I would like to explore, as it will allow me to present the idea that people should pursue their own basic liberties.
