BACKGROUND TO THE TASK

You are working for a software development company in Brisbane which is considering establishing several international teams which may be located in South Korea, Argentina, and India.

To prepare for the establishment of the GVTs, the company's senior executives want to know more about the possible technology problemsthat may be encountered and strategies that can be used to deal with these problems.

You have been asked to

• carry out library research on these aspects of GVTs and base your report on recent, authoritative academic and industry information

• write a draft report of 500 words. See criteria for draft.

• write a completed report in appropriate format of 2000 words, based on your research.

In this report, you are to

• provide an appropriate definition of a GVT which identifies the unique features of a GVT

• explain why technology plays such an important role in GVTs

• discuss the various forms / types of technology that are commonly used in GVTs

• discuss the issues associated with the effective use of technology across GVTs

• identify effective solutions / strategies to use in dealing with these problems Your manager wants you to place the main focus of your report (at least two-thirds of the words) on the ISSUES related to technology and SOLUTIONS TO THESE ISSUES. You need in this report to analyse and evaluate information, not simply describe.

Your manager wants more than just a descriptive report; he/she wants you to include, from your readings and case studies of GVTs, analysis and evaluation based on the research.
