Background:

As reported by the BBC as of January 2015 over 8,690 people have been reported dead based on Ebola in six countries: Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, the US and Mali with over 21,797 people affected in the world (Ebola, 23 January, 2015).

Scenario:

Based on your text readings and any supplemental readings or experience I would like for you to discuss your thoughts, actions and reactions if you were to be traveling on an airline and found yourself surrounded by individuals who appeared to be from one of these cited countries.
Your interpretation and conclusion that these individuals were from one of these countries was based on their clothing style, method of speaking or any other social and socio-cultural cues which you have viewed on any form of media, such as TV, or from your own experience. Your primary concern is your own safety and the risk associated with individuals from one of these countries who may not be currently symptomatic, yet, may inadvertently result in you becoming afflicted with Ebola.

Be reminded you are acting and reacting from a life time of cultural and social dimensions and morality. You are also acting and reacting from a life time and more importantly from a very recent world-wide disease concern. How does the individuals' culture affect your perceptions? How does the constructs of body shape, speech patterns, clothing style, physical health and lifestyles based on the backdrop of this highly contagious, by blood effusion, affect your response to traveling with these individuals? How do your emotions and the emotions of your fellow passengers reflect on how you react to this event trigger, and how does it impact how you perceive the potential threat and make your internal appraisals, and finally, how does it drive your behavior in the airport?
