Assignment

Write a paper about Toledo museum art.

I will be with you to orient you the first hour, then you go on your own. We will see each other for questions before you leave. This will be in the cafeteria.

Admission is free, coat racks available. Leave your backpacks at home or with the security guards.

RULES: DO NOT TOUCH THE ART, NO GUM, NO PENS-only pencils, NO FLASH USED IN PHOTOGRAPHY, SOME AREAS THERE IS NO PHOTOGRAPHY AT ALL: NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE MUSEUM AREA. There are two cafes where you can get a drink or food if desired.

If you cannot attend the above, you will need to make arrangements to go to a similar venue near you and papers are due the week of 24-27 July.

The format for your field trip papers:

Section One: Describe your overall impression of the Art Venue. This should be at least two paragraphs.

Section Two: Discuss three pieces of art. Keep the write-ups on separate pages. For each piece of art, you need the artist's name (if available) and title of piece. Then, include all of the elements we have discussed in class-lines, shapes, use of space, colors, patterns, motion, emotion, etc. You may include pictures of the art chosen.

There is a small DIA reference number next to the piece of art. If you take this number to the information desk, they will be able to print a copy of it. Including the photos, this section should be about 3 pages long.

Section Three: Answer the question-"How was this trip valuable to you as a Humanities Student?" This should be at least two paragraphs long.
