Word length: 2,300 - 2,500 words (excluding references and appendices)

This assignment requires students to apply their theoretical knowledge and skills to examine current revenue management practices in a hotel/hospitality business within the industry. The purpose of this assignment is to link the topics and theories taught in the unit to a real world context.

Task requirements: Students will outline the current revenue management strategies of their selected business, address issues with solutions and provide recommendations as part of continuous improvement. Submitted papers should address all four key elements of revenue management:

• forecasting techniques
• overbooking strategies
• seat inventory control measures
• pricing models

Students will also need to:

• analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each system
• outline recommendations and suggestions for further improvement
• describe the current state of the hotel's revenue management program recommend solutions to address the problem of low RevPAR

Student must include and reference a minimum of 15 recent articles using Harvard Style referencing for the assessment. Reports should be written in a clear and concise manner.

Your report should utilise the following structure:

• Title page
• Table of contents
• Introduction
• Main body
• Conclusion and recommendations
• Reference list (and in-text citations) using Harvard referencing style
• Appendices (included any tools which assisted you with your research).
