Assignment

Using the Internet, California Southern University Libraries online resources, or your local library, identify an article to critique that relates to the current reading assignment. Do not just pick the first article(s) you find to critique. Spend time locating an article that you find interesting and that lends itself well to a critique. The article should be current and taken from Scholarly Journals. Choose an article that is worthy and provides empirical research offering valid theories and statistical findings that support the hypotheses. The definition of current articles means less than one-year old. When writing your critique refer to the Guidelines on How to Read an Article and Prepare a Critique of Professional Articles found in your syllabus Resource Section.

Your critiques must be comprehensive, using terminology and concepts presented in the primary textbook as well as supplementary resources. Write in complete sentences and use good grammar, double-spacing, 12 point font, with one inch margins. All critiques must include the title of the article; the name(s) of the author(s); and the title of the journal, volume number, date, month and page numbers. Be sure to cite your resources and provide the references using APA format. Remember to reference all work cited or quoted by the text authors. You should be doing this often in your responses. Complete and submit the article research project.

Activity Outcomes

1. Assess the major leadership theories including the key points of each theory.

2. Describe the differences between a leader and a manager and analyze the perspectives that shape each role for maintaining a healthy organization.
