Topic: WWII and the Holocaust

In previous weeks, we have looked at the way that racial thinking impacted the age of exploration, the practice of slavery, and the policies of European empires. For this discussion, we will look at the way that racial thinking impacted WWII. Using your readings and supplemental materials, describe the way that Nazi racial policy impacted Germany's decision to go to war and their treatment of the peoples they conquered. How did Nazi racial policies result in the Holocaust? Why did so many Germans, French, and Eastern Europeans participate willingly in the Holocaust? What should be done to prevent something like this from happening again?
