Assignment

Part 1: Journal

• You are articulating your project for the first time in this unit. What do you think about the process of creating a project so far? Have you found it difficult or appropriately challenging? What are some of the things that you have learned so far-about the process and about yourself as a researcher?

If you could go back in time to a few weeks ago, what are some of the things you know today that you would tell yourself? In other words, what are some of the key lessons you have learned? Similarly, what have you learned in researching that has made your process easier?

Alternatively, you have been deeply situated in your research for the past few units. What have you learned about your topic that you did not know before? What do you find fascinating? What advice would you share with future students taking this course?

Your response should be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

5. If a workplace hazard assessment results in the determination that specific PPE is required, what three actions must the employer take? Include the citation for the OSHA standard where you found the answer to the question.

Part 3: Case study

OSHA's personal protective equipment (PPE) standard requires employers to assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, which may necessitate the use of PPE. Based on the assessment, appropriate PPE must be selected and provided to affected employees.

Using Subpart I Appendix B as a guide, develop a hazard assessment for your workplace or a workplace with which you are familiar.

If you work in an office, or if you work in another non-hazardous location, develop an assessment for an imagined industrial shop such as woodworking or metalworking. Use the other sections of Subpart I to help determine the appropriate PPE for each hazard.

You can also use online safety equipment catalogs to find examples of PPE that meet the OSHA BOS 4025, OSHA Standards 2 requirements.

Your submission must be a minimum of two pages in length (double-spaced). Begin your case study with an engaging opening statement that connects the reader to the case study. References and citations in APA format should be provided to support the hazard determinations and PPE selection. The reference page does not count toward meeting the two-page minimum.
