Overview: In this paper, you will complete a literature review outline using the provided template. Developing an outline helps frame your literature review and situate the themes from the studies and journal articles you have located and read. The literature review is an orientation to key elements in the research question. Outlines are organized to show significance and integrate and synthesize researchers' multiple perspectives and similar or contrasting findings. Completing this short paper will prepare you to complete your literature review for Part II of the final project. Remember, the goal of the literature review is to provide historical context of a topic and its research trends and show how theory has informed practice.

Prompt: Use the Literature Review Outline Template to complete this assignment. In this outline, you must include these critical elements:

I. Structure

A. Use full sentences for each point. (Refer to the Purdue Owl resource on full-sentence outlines.)
B. Headings should be general. Main idea sentences and subheadings should be related, with elaborative details for each subheading.
C. Support subheadings with citations.

II. Scope and Purpose

A. Provide your research question as a statement of the purpose of your literature review.
B. State the scope (breadth) of literature on the topic that you will review.
C. Articulate the problem according to the literature, not your own experience. What does the literature say about the problem you are observing?

III. Significance Statement: Build a persuasive case citing relevant research and showing that the problem or improvement is significant to individuals or groups within a learning community. Include consequences that the literature suggests could exist for members of the learning community if this problem is not solved or improved.

IV. Key Constructs: Explain the meaning of keywords (constructs) most important in your research question as defined by various previous researchers.

V. Recent and Relevant Research Studies: Integrate the findings from the balanced collection of literature you have gathered and annotated into an interpretation of your own that relates back to your research question. In basic research, the researcher anchors his or her thinking to what we already know from previous, well-facilitated studies.

VI. Organization: Organize the most important ideas from the literature in a clear, cohesive, logical, and direct manner. The literature review outline is the framework for your literature review. Ideas should flow smoothly from one point to the next.
