Outcomes addressed in this activity:
Describe the data warehouse concept and list its main features.
Course Outcomes:
Analyze the systemic approaches that businesses use to acquire, store, and present data and transform it into information used to support business operations and decision making.
Directions:
For this Assignment you will examine a business case in order to analyze the factors that may be important when thinking about data warehouse usage in an organization. Include, at a minimum, the five main topics as outlined below. Any other observations and/or insights based upon how the case relates to Data Warehouses, Data Administration, or other topics presented in this unit are more than welcome
Write a 3 page analytical paper on the following topic:
Read 5.3 The Data Warehouse at the Isle of Capri Casinos
Please find the case in Chapter 5 in Introduction to Information Systems: Enabling and Transforming Business.
Based on the case, provide the following:
1. A summation of the key points raised in the case.
2. Why was it necessary for The Isle of Capri Casinos to develop a data warehouse?
3. How do you think the data warehouse efforts may be similar to, or work in conjunction with a CRM system?
4. Describe the variety of benefits that The Isle realized from its data warehouse.
5. Provide additional ways in which The Isle may be able to take advantage of its data warehouse?
Provide specific examples of how that could work.
6. If the data warehouse was based on a star schema (it was), what would be the nature of the table in the center of the schema, describe all of the probable fields you might find there.

Include a minimum of two references in your paper; references may be from the text books for the course.
