1. DON'T MISTAKE APPEARANCE FOR ACHIEVEMENT-but don't ever, with yourself or others, mistake appearance for achievement.

2. WHEN ASSIGNED A SUPPORTING ROLE-It's natural for you to always want to be where the action is, but if you are assigned a supporting role, carry it out to the best of your ability.

3. CREATE A THINKING MACHINE-Empowerment begins with knowledge, which goes beyond job training.

4. SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES-If you see an opportunity, seize it.

5. WHAT MATTERS IS EFFECTIVENESS, NOT STYLE-There is no single perfect management style that suits all. The best management style for you

6. PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE-Make plans, but always bear in mind that even under the best of circumstances you will have only limited control

7. YOU HAVE TO EARN YOUR STRIPES- you will have to earn the respect of the rank and file in order to gain their support.

8. PEOPLE NEED STRUCTURE-No one likes to work in an environment where there are no rules and anything goes.

9. THE COURAGE TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS-Surround yourself with people, who have the courage to tell you when they think what you're doing is wrong.

10. KNOW WHEN TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT-There is never a good reason for telling competitors and third parties more than they need to know.
