Instructions:
Create PowerPoint slides for an online, recorded presentation 10 minutes in length. (You will need notes to refer to while you're giving the presentation.) All sources must be cited on your presentation slides. Format your presentation following AMA guidelines.
For the final project in this course, you will assume the role of the CFO at the University of New Mexico Health Systems (an arm of the UNM Health Sciences Center). UNMHS seeks to fulfill the UNMHS mission of "[improving] health and health care to the populations [it serves] with community-wide solutions" by merging with, and saving, a failing rural health organization. You have been assigned the task of providing analyses of two such failing rural healthcare organizations to the UNMHS CEOs.
Present your findings - from your financial and creditworthiness reports and anything notable resulting from the application of your heuristic - to the CEOs at UNMHS.
Be sure to describe the organizations; cover your methods for evaluating the organizations, such as the heuristic you developed in Week 1; give your analysis of any larger financial concerns, referring to your financial and creditworthiness reports. Include, too, one suggestion for each of the organizations on how their financial situation might be improved post-merger. These suggestions can range from pay-cuts to firings, fundraising, selling off assets, etc. Whatever seems most appropriate for each organization. Support your suggestion with a forecast for how the financial situations of each organization might improve should the suggestions be followed.
The goal: Give the CEOs an accurate assessment of the situation so that they can make an informed decision on which of the organizations to merge with.
Your job is not to convince but to provide detail and clarity so that the CEOs can make as informed a decision as possible how to proceed. More detailed reports, plans and presentations will follow your own should the CEOs choose to pursue a merger with one of the two organizations, but you must give them the ability to make that informed decision in the first place.
