How big was the main eruption (use descriptions that include amount of ash, magma, or gas erupted in cubic kilometers or cubic meters, thickness of ash layers in cm or m, or height of the ash plume into the atmosphere in feet, m, km, or miles)? Was this eruption particularly deadly? Explain. (Hint: How many people died in this eruption versus at Pompeii when Mt Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD). How did the eruption influence global climate, and for how long? Would you expect this volcano to be active in the future? Why or why not?
