Assignment

For each of the four essays you must answer all of the questions. When submitting your answers, you must use Times New Roman font type, no larger than 12 size and 1 inch margins on all sides. You must include your name, date, and cite your sources. Refer to your book for extra information in answering the questions but remember to cite. Each essay should be (minimum) no less than two paragraphs in length. There is no maximum length.

1. How did the developing relationships between males and females demonstrate the changes from hunter-gatherer society to agriculturalist society?

2. What factors spurred the development of written scripts? How did the development of written scripts affect the societies that developed them?

3. Discuss ways the Bantu and Mayan peoples organize their political and social systems as well as the role religion served in organizing these societies.

4. Compare the importance of bureaucratic structures to the growth of the Ming and Ottoman dynasties. How did each support the strength of the ruling family?
