Task

The aim of this research project is to conduct electricity audit at your home and to write a report about it.

The project may be done both individually and in pairs (two students).

You should follow the following steps:

1. Sunday. Take a photo of the electricity meter reading. These devices are usually placed outside your home.

2. Thursday of the same week. Take another photo of the electricity meter. Calculate how much electricity has been used in your house during 5 days.

Data analysis. electricity saving strategy development.

3. Calculate the amount of used electricity in the class using your meter readings (use the photos which you have taken). Discuss the electricity usage in your home with your classmates, is it higher/lower or the same like everyone else.

Which steps can you take at home to reduce the amount of electricity consumption? Suggest 5 reasonable simple steps/actions which you can take at your home to reduce the amount of electricity consumption. The actions should be practical - the ones you can really implement.

At the end of the class everyone will report about their electricity usage per 5 days and at least 5 actions, which they intend to take at home to reducethe amount of consumed electricity.

Implement the strategy at your home. Keep a short diary of what exactly you do. After you are happy that all the actions are being carried out at your home measure the energy usage at your home again. You should do it at the same days of the week: (Sunday/Monday until Thursday/Friday). Calculate the energy usage again.

REPORT

Write a report on energy audit at your house.

The Report should include the following sub-headings:

1. Background. 200-300 words. Describe how electricity is used in your house and how the energy usage may be reduced.

2. energy saving strategy for your home. 200-300 words. Suggest 5 reasonable simple actions which you will take to reduce energy usage.

3. Methods: describe how you collected your information.(Don't write about this)

4. Results. Show the photos of electricity and show your electricity usage before and after you implement your strategy.(Don't write about this)

5. Discussion. Discuss you results: did your strategy of electricity saving work? If it did not work - why?. What can you do better next time. 200-300 words.

6. References. Add at least TWO references from your searches in the web in APA style.
