Define the mediation process. Attached is the information to help you prepare for the PowerPoint. The article will provide you with an understanding of the role of the mediator, and the mediation process.

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to help you understand mediation, the role of the mediator, and the problem solving techniques the mediator may employ.

Assignment Description: Put yourself in the place of a mediator who is starting his/her first mediation session with two disputing parties. Your responsibility as part of the new mediator's team is to create and record a presentation with your opening remarks. Conduct the research and prepare a recorded PowerPoint presentation with what you will say as part of your opening remarks. You will want to be certain to:

1. Explain the intent and process of mediation.
2. Discuss your role as a mediator.
3. Demonstrate and explain to the parties how you would create a safe and supportive environment for them.

Parameters:

1. You must include a minimum of two scholarly and credible sources including in-text citation on bottom of slides.

2. References must be properly APA formatted with a slide at the end containing the reference list.

3. The recorded presentation must be a minimum of 5 minutes but no more than 10 minutes.

4. Use a single background design and color.

5. Each slide should be designed to be concise, uncluttered and readable from a distance: include only key words and phrases for visual reinforcement.

6. Do not put too much information on any single slide: generally no more than 6 words a line, and no more than 6 lines a slide.
