1. When do you notice autonomy-connectection and predictability-novelty tensions in your relationships? How do those tensions reveal themselves in your communication behaviors?

2. Think about the family roles in your family mentioned in the chapter. What role do you often play? How well does that work for you? Can you imagine that family dynamics would be improved in you chose a different role?

3. What are some of the ways you invest in intimate relationships? In what ways do investments in romantic relationships differ from those in familial relationships?

4. Why do you think positivity is so important for stable, satisfying relationships? How do you practice that in your own life and/or how could you practice it more?
