A code of ethics is a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and aims to live by. A code of business ethics works in conjunction with a company's mission statement. A code of ethics is a statement of more specific policies about conduct to give employees, vendors, and other stakeholders an idea of what the company resembles and how the employees should conduct themselves.
As discussed earlier, a mission statement is a statement of purpose. An organization's mission is current and alive. A good mission statement should accurately explain why your organization survives.
• Find your company's code of ethics. If the code of ethics cannot be located, then develop the code for your selected company. The code should be written in a way that will be broad enough to meet many issues that the company may face.
o Once the code is located, copy and paste the code into a Word document.
o Analyze the code and decide if the company is upholding those beliefs. If you must construct the code yourself, determine its effect on society.
• Find your company's mission statement. Copy and paste the mission statement in your Word document.
o Then, improve on that mission statement. Revise that statement in order for your company to improve its relationship with their customers, employees, suppliers, and their community.
