3. Nursing homes may be comprised of patients from diverse backgrounds. What are three things that a nursing home administrator can do to accommodate a culturally diverse group of patients?

4. As a nursing home administrator who has just been appointed to manage a skilled nursing facility that was built in the 1970s, how would you go about delivering person-centered care? (Be sure to discuss what person-centered care is.)

5. The presence of dogs and cats does not appeal to everyone because of allergies or other health-related factors. As a nursing home administrator, how would you address such concerns?

• On the basis of the information given in the case, assess Jim and Rosa's current long-term care needs.

• What type of living and care arrangements would you recommend? Why?

• If the couple moved into a nursing home, do you feel the culture change would be more challenging to this couple because they are immigrants? (Please explain your answer.)

• There are five personal domain areas (security, safety, wayfinding, autonomy, privacy) and three public domain areas (compatibility, dining, and socializing) associated with living in a long-term care environment. Choose two from each category and discuss how Jim and Rosa might view these as compared to a non-immigrant.
