Assignment: University Mitigation Plan Proposal Scope of Work

Using the attached FEMA Local Mitigation Plan Scope of Work as your template, please develop the scope of work portion of a mitigation plan proposal for a university.

The goal for this assignment is for you to identify all of the steps necessary to draft a mitigation plan for a university. Describe the process for each step in the mitigation plan development and include specific references to the University Departments that should be involved in the planning process. TIP: Use your previous risk assessments from your community as the basis for the risks that will be addressed by the mitigation plan. Also, take advantage of the information contained in two previous readings in module 6 (Mitigation Ideas: A Resource to Reducing Risk to Natural Hazards and Best Practices for Mitigation Planning)

The statement of work should include at a minimum:

•How you will develop a planning team, conduct public outreach and utilize the information gathered from public involvement.

•How you will conduct a risk assessment and develop a detailed description of the type, location and extent of all natural hazards impacting the university.

•How you will develop a mitigation strategy and mitigation actions. How you will prioritize these actions.

•How your plan will be compliant with FEMA regulations.

•How you will recommend implementing the mitigation plan.

Your scope of work should be approximately 3-4 pages and highlight key parts of each step.

Format. Papers should be formatted according to the following:

•Times new roman

•12 point font

•1.5 spacing

•No more than 3 pages

Citing Sources:

•Sources should be cited properly using the APA style.
