Choose one leader and a write a 500 word persuasive essay explaining why this figure is an example of strong leadership. Do not confuse "good person" with strong leader. The two things are not necessarily the same. In your essay:

• Assume the audience does not know who this person is (even if it seems unlikely), so give a brief biography. What were her/his goals? What did she or he accomplish? Don't get bogged down in the details, but paint enough of a picture for the audience to catch on

• Provide at least three leadership skills that this leader demonstrated and provide examples of how she or he used them to effect a particular goal.

• Persuade the reader of your opinion. Show the reader why these this figure personifies strong leadership

• Select at least two qualities this figure possessed that you'd like to see in yourself when you graduate

Write this paper in an academic tone (no slang or colloquialisms, etc.). It doesn't have to feel "stiff," but should be something you'd feel confident showing a professor. Cite your sources and remember to include a title page. Practice APA. What matters is content, your ability to persuade and your writing voice. Use your critical thinking skills. Aim for zero errors. Make sure your similarity score is less than 20% before the assignment deadline (see the video in Writing Assistance Lab for help).

Leadership Skills

Leader traits have been a long time historical controversy since research shows "that the possession of certain traits alone does not guarantee leadership success". However, there is evidence that effective leaders have unique personalitiesand they poses some key traits that will be soon discussed. On the other hand, it is important to mention that every leader is unique, since he she will be shaped up based on the culture, religion, political views, background and personality. There is evidence about some keytraitsthatwill be explained in the following lines. A good leader is "driven" summarizing:motivated, ambitious, energetic, tenacious. A successful leader demonstrates to have "emotionalstability"; that summarizing "honesty and integrity and self-confidence". Moreover, theirleadingmotivation is detached from seeking power. Therefore, they have a passion or something they defend or fight for standing up for those who can't do it. Finally, they have "'cognitive ability"; which is knowledge of the community, problem and or business.(Kirkpatrick & Locke, 1991)

Strong leadership legacy

Mankiller was a game changer and displayed strong leadership while she made positive changes whiting he community and inspired females to take leadership positions since the government was male-dominated . id =f we look data the traits ptreviously explained most ly shown in good leaders she has them all she was a driven leaders and a clear example of that is that is that " During her eleven-year tenure, the Cherokee Nation had a tremendous growth time , since the population increased from 55,000 to 156,000. She strengthened the relationship between the Cherokee Nation and the U.S. government. She worked to establish community development programs and revived the tribal high school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma".

Man killer had cognitive ability wassympathetic and understud her communities need and wants . A clear exzmaple of that is that she lived the struggles when the government taking over Cherokee land and forcing relocation for the sake of the expansion of military assets. therefore had a genuine care and concern for her people, which made the Cherokee much more willing to support her as Principal Chief. Wilma Mankiller came from nothing, experienced real problems, and could genuinely sympathize with her people and even more importantly she was able to come up with attainable solutions.

In 1969 she joined occupiers in the Occupation of Alcatraz Island. This occupation was symbolic.

She also had emotional stability Wilma Mankiller was a hard worker, a resilient person, and a progressive. Her leadershop was not based on power she wass motivated to serve and make an impact on her community she came from a very poor family she trived and was able to graduate form San Francisco State University and since then she got involved in the Indian Cente and participated in a vast activist movements advocating healthier relations between the federal government and Indian peoples. that allowed her to advodcateand she initiated several community development projects to bolster Cherokee unity. With funding from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Cherokee were able to create Cherokee owned businesses, in addition to various facilities, which would be mutually beneficial for the Cherokee nation and the communities that they inhabited.

She constantly strove to improve relations between the Cherokee and Federal governments with some success. A strong leader is one who is willing to compromise with the people living around them rather than to dominate other and put their people in risk of danger. Wilma recognized that in order to survive the Cherokee nation would need to learn to live alongside the federal government and fought to make this possible. One of the wisest decisions she made was to step down as chief when she became ill. The mark of a true leader is one who is willing to relinquish power when they are no longer fit to bear it. Wilma stepped down to leave her people in the hands of somebody more physically capable.
